Reaching Into Infinity
Dragonforce
Every time that some bands release a new album, is the same thing: the fans celebrate, and the Metal-heads that don't like the band start to speak things that aren't needed to be said here. People lose the respect for other people's opinions and works. Here in Brazil, it's Hell every single day due that, because it seems that everyone must show their opinion. I personally say: if I like, ok. If I don't like, ok as well, but I respect. simple as it seems. I don't know how this kind of thing happens in other countries, but every time that DRAGONFORCE releases a new album, it is the same thing. I'm waiting for it as I listen to their new album, "Reaching Into Infinity".
The band's musical style is not presenting differences from what we already know: it's that Extreme Power Metal that they play since their first album. The exaggerations are an important part of their musical personality, as are the shredding guitars as well. But although the style isn't different at all, we can't say that "Reaching Into Infinity" is a weak album or that it hasn't its values. No, it's far from that, because the quality level of the songs is amazing as always. Jens Bogren was the producer of the album, and mixed the songs (except the bonus songs "Hatred and Revenge" and a cover for DEATH's "Evil Dead", that were mixed by Johan Örnborg), with mastering of Tony Lindgren. The sound quality that results from their efforts is perfect for what the sextet needs for their work. The artwork created by CadiesArt is truly amazing as well.
Of course, the technique and all their musical features are back, with some catchy choruses and all. The album's finest moments can be said as the wonderful and hypnotic "Ashes of the Dawn" (excellent melodies and great guitar riffs), "Judgement Day" (a fast song with a very good and hooking chorus), the excellent bass playing and drums work presented on "Curse of Darkness", the high adrenaline dose presented on "Midnight Madness" and "War!" (both with fine orchestrations and fine vocals), the shredding guitar riffs and excellent solos of "Land of Shattered Dreams", the excellent rhythmic changes of the long "The Edge of the World" and the fine melodies of "Our Final Stand". The bonus songs of the deluxe version, "Hatred and Revenge" and their melodic and extreme version for DEATH's "Evil Dead" are excellent as well (and this last song will cause nightmares to those extreme Metal radicals for their entire lives). But the entire album is excellent.
It's another excellent album from DRAGONFORCE. So listen to it and have a great time!
