Violence And The Macabre
Down From The Wound
Metal is growing worldwide, and it's good to see a band coming from the Philippines, an extreme and brutal Death Metal band, DOWN FROM THE WOUND, coming now with their second album, "Violence And The Macabre".
Brutal Death Metal is what the band is up to, so extreme that the low grunts are REALLY low, seeming to come from the bottom a cavern, with some good riffs, bass in fine shape and great drums. But when they gather together, it seems just as another good band as thousands that already exist. It's good, but nothing new or that can really become more than they are now.
The sound production is good, clear and heavy, so the instruments can be heard with good accuracy. The artwork is fine, a good picture, if you're willing to do some sadomasochist ritual...
In terms of music, they have potential, knowing not to insist only in one kind of tempo, getting fast, mid tempo or slower with no difficulties, but they really need more personality. There are fine songs, as the extreme "Ill Fated Annihilation", "Schematic Fraud" (good guitars and vocals here), and "Violence and the Macabre" (great slower tempos), but they need an identity.
Good, but hope their next work can really show what they really can do.
