Metalcore is a Metal genre that is really the greatest trend of the moment, and this aspect is not good. Allow me to explain my words: when a Metal genre is in great evidence, the faster it will be eroded, and there will be just a few chances for those who are creative, but don't come at the beginning of the flood. It can be cruel with many very good bands, because when they appear, the public is tired of it. Bands as the fine German quintet DON'T TRY THIS, from Dessau (on Germany), because their album "Wireless Slaves" is a very good sample of talent in the middle of a eroded landscape of cloned bands.

They sound abrasive and modern, technical and aggressive, like all Metalcore bands. But the greater differential on their work is that the melodies appear in the middle of a total aggressive scenario, and it's not like the greater part of the bands on the genre in this moment. This is very good, and a really good experience for our ears. The sound quality was done in a way that we all can understand what the quintet is playing (with very good instrumental tunes, indeed), but that clean outfit that every Metalcore album must have is presented here in a very good shape. It sounds heavy, aggressive and clean in the same proportions.

The band uses very good ethereal elements on their songs, done by keyboards, and this is good, because to mix harshness and melodies can be a great trial. But as you can hear on the contrast between aggressive moments with lovely melodies on "Suffocation" (where there's a fine work from vocals and keyboards), the same ones on the brutal and melancholic lines of "When They Rise" (once more, very good vocals, but the technical work of bass guitar and drums is really amazing), the modern and cool insight used on "Nothing is Like Before" (that has some elements that come from Melodic/Technical Death Metal), the catchy melodies from the guitars shown on the excellent "My Burden", and the bitter melancholic moments on the aggressive "The End of Everything", they have a lot of to offer to the fans of Metalcore. I truly believe that it's just the beginning, that they can do better than we hear on "Wireless Slaves", so let's wait for the future and see what DON'T TRY THIS has to offer.Yes, try it, and you'll like this album.
