Since the last years of the 80's, many bands started to look for something different from the past. Grunge Rock and Alternative Rock, in a deeper sense, was nothing more than bands using a different insight into Rock and Metal taking influences from earlier Classic Rock and Punk Rock. In a different way, the German DOMINOE is another band that plays an old Rock/Metal genre, as "The Lost Radio Show" shows clearly.

Following a Classic Rock/Hard Rock way that is influenced by LYNYRD SKYNYRD, MAGNUM, DEEP PURPLE and URIAH HEEP (but not as Progressive Rock as this last one), but bearing some influences from Pop Rock as well, so it's heavy and filled with melodies that are assimilated easily for the listeners' senses, and their musical work is based on a good technical level. Excellent guitars and keyboards parts, heavy and solid work on bass guitar and drums are the features that create the instrumental basis of their music, where melodic vocals (with some good female voices and backing vocals) are laid upon, and they can seduce any fan easily.

The live feeling that fills the sound quality of "The Lost Radio Show" has a reason: these recordings were done to be a part of a radio show back in 2008, but part of them were lost due a hard disk crash, but as Robert Papst discovered these "tapes" in the year 2018, and the most of the tracks were used, and only the really lost tracks were recorded. And it sounds really great, clear and organic, with the essential touch of weight that a Rock album must bear.

It's not an album for those who are looking for something aggressive or modern. But if you're looking for a competent set of songs that can earn you a great time, "The Lost Radio Show" was done for you. And songs as the catchy "One More Sugar" (excellent vocals and backing vocals parts), the abrasive Classic Rock approach on "Satellite" (a perfect work on the keyboards and charming melodies), the Pop essence of "Angels Don't Cry" (a extremely accessible song, that can remind some of the best moments from BRYAN ADAMS), the good taste of the melodies on the power ballad "Senses", the Country/Southern Rock touch that "Let's Talk About Life" has (and it shows a good work from guitars), the melodic energy that flows from "No More Lies", the tender "Comin' Home" (another song with influences from Pop Rock that hooks the fans by the ears), the 80s Pop aesthetics used on "Let It Rain" and "Here I Am" are the finest moments of the album (although the album is excellent from its beginning from its end).

DOMINOE is really a very good band, and "The Lost Radio Show" is an excellent work that links their past and present, and their future seems to be promising!
