When we speak about feminism, we are dealing with the rights of equality between men and women. Yes, it's a pretty important matter, because in third world countries, women die from aggression and rapes (in a great number of the cases, the man in question is the husband), but as well, it's not a case of showing tits in public or even the supremacy of women above men. It's equality between them. But when we are talking about the musical world, not even empowerment can make a female band good if its members have no talent for music. In the case of North American band DOLL SKIN, we can say that these girls have a lot of talent. Their album, "Manic Pixie Dream Girl" is here to prove my words.

They play a melodic and nasty form of Punk Rock music, with fine choruses, strong backing vocals, good technique on each musical instrumental, a great dose of melodic musical accessibility, and a furious and intense Rock'n'Roll feeling. Yes, they are pretty good, unleashing tons of nasty and brutal energy, but always with fine melodic sense. "Manic Pixie Dream Girl" was produced and mixed by CAGE9 frontman Evan Rodaniche, and the result is a loud, strong and clear sound quality. Yes, they sound pretty clean, but beware, because their musical aggressiveness is really sensible in all the album's tracks. To make the band's melodies so clear shows that Evan did a great job, indeed.

The girls really have gust guts and talent. Their songs are very good, but the best ones can be said as the nasty and melodic Rock'n'Roll song "Shut Up (You Miss Me)" (what a catchy and lovely chorus), the melodic Punk essence of "Daughter" with its very good work on vocals, the fine work from bass guitar and drums on the savage "Road Killa", the charming and tasty melodic lines of "Sunflower" (some Post Punk influences can be heard on this songs, filled with excellent guitar parts), the fine power ballad "Sweet Pea", the raw energy of "Persephone", and the Punk Rock hymn called "Puncha Nazi". Yes, they are good, making a fine work, and I hope they can grow in popularity and become a great band, for they deserve it.
