Dissident - Unleash The Violence... In Thrash We Trust album cover

Thrash Metal must be the Metal style that has more bands on the market now.

Yes, because even on the second half of the 80s, when Thrash Metal was one of the biggest Metal style (only behind Hard Rock / Glam and Traditional Heavy Metal), when METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER, ANTHRAX and TESTAMENT were unleashing their musical fury above all Metallians, the number of bands wasn't as great as now. But this can cause problems, because when a style becomes so evident, we have a flood of bands that have nothing to say, just more of the same thing we heard before.

But the Chilean quartet DISSIDENT is not one of these bands, as we can hear on "Unleash the Violence... In Thrash We Trust", their first album.

Curiously, the album has two parts: the songs 1 to 5, the "Unleash the Violence" part, was recorded on 2012, and from 6 to 10, the "In Thrash We Trust" part, was recorded on 2016. But we can feel a powerful and thunderous way of classic Thrash Metal, in a TESTAMENT style, but with personality. Showing some good technical moments, some slower tempos, other in a slower fashion, but the music is always full of energy, aggressive and hooking. Prepare your necks!

The recording seems to have a particular history: on the first part of the album, the sound quality is better, keeping the band aggressive and clean as they deserve, and on the second part, besides the sound quality is very good as in the first part, the instrumental tunes could be better, because the guitars are a bit low.

The violent and fast "Mosh Against Reasons" (fast guitars and a fine clean vocal, aggressive without screaming), the hooking and abrasive "Too Inert for Responding Attack" (with very good technique, showing excellent riffs and good solos), and the good tempos changes shown on "Babel Rise" can speak for the first part of the album. On the second half, you can say that "Idiosyncrasy of Sub Development" with its fine guitar riffs and melodic solos, the very good vocals and backing vocals on "Desolation" and the very good drumming as well), and the furious and aggressive attack of bass and drums on "In Thrash We Trust" are the best moments. The bigger difference between the two parts is that the bands technical aspect improved a lot.

Very good band, indeed, so Thrash on!
