If by now you haven't heard the name Devin Townsend and you have been listening to anything from Rock to Progressive Metal, you must be living in another planet or a different time zone. The man that started his career with the one and only Steve Vai as a vocalist turned out be an amazing guitar player himself, a composer, and in my opinion the 21^st century Frank Zappa.

Townsend has put out a lot of albums with a lot of different bands and projects, keeping it Progressive, out of the box song structures, tuning, scales and odd time signatures that made his music sounding like something that you really don't hear every day. He is considered by many as the inventor of the new wall of sound.

"Epicloud" is his latest studio album, and as always a very diverse release. It has some heavy songs, acoustic stuff and some strange and awkward moments but it's all produced in a perfect way. After a couple of listens you'll get his thinking patterns. Another extra here is Anneke Van Giersbergen's (THE GATHERING) amazing voice that adds a little extra to this record.

In conclusion if you're into Devin Townsend you'll love this one and if you don't know him this is totally the album worth buying to get into him. I intentionally didn't talk about any songs in specific because I believe you need to listen to it to get it. This is a good album that must be in any music fan's library.
