Into the Eye of Satan
Deiphago
The mix between Death and Black Metal elements has some good results in the Metal scene throughout the world. Of course bands as SARCÓFAGO, HATE, BEHEMOTH and some others are the main names of this style, but to be honest, there are some good names spreading their musical aggressiveness. And one good name is from Philippine trio DEIPHAGO. They are really old and experienced (they're active since 1989), and with "Into the Eye of Satan", they keep spewing forth their hate in musical form in the faces of everyone who dares to hear them.
Their music is a mix between influences from bands as SARCÓFAGO, BEHERIT and BLASPHEMY with something from bands from SWOBM as DARKTHRONE, MAYHEM, some touches from German Thrash Metal from the 80s, and something from 1349 and GORGOROTH. No, I'm not saying that they are a clone, far from that. I just meant their similarities, so you'll find something extremely aggressive and harsh, but good.
Their sound quality is not as good as their music deserves, because it is raw and very harsh. Ok, I truly understand that extreme Metal bands must have touches of dirtiness on their work, but not so many as I hear on this album. But is not a total loss, please, because you'll understand what they're playing.
Their best songs are the ones where some tempos are not so as fast as they can play, as we hear on "Bloodbath and Genocide" (some very good riffs are presented here, even when tempos go faster and faster) and "Into the Eye of Satan" (where the distorted bass guitar with slow paced drums is creating a intense and morbid feeling), and some very good work on vocals on "Serpentine Anti-World" (where again the drums are creating a very powerful rhythmic basis).
Good album.
