Well, it seems that a great number of bands are really thinking that they will find a new way going into the past. And let your Ole' Big Daddy here say a thing about this matter: there isn't answers back in the past. But there are some good names arising by now, using the old formula to create very good works. And from Sweden comes a very good quartet, DEAD LORD, that now comes with second release, the album "Head Held High".

Yes, they're in the same vein of old and good Hard Rock bands like THIN LIZZY (using a very good guitar duo to create memorable guitar riffs and solos), using some more elaborated songs, sometimes being savage, and other times more melodic and introspective. But they are always good.

The sound quality that was given to their work is very good. It keeps some aspects from 70s sonorities, but its modern and done in a way that the melodic side of their music is shown in a very good way. But it has that dirtiness that a Metal or Rock'n'Roll band must have. And the cover is very good as well, with a detail: it seems to be smashed as an old vinyl cover, giving the clear idea that their music is extremely organic.

Their 10 songs are all good, but "Farewell" (melodic and very catching, with astonishing guitars and charming chorus), the pure energy of "Mindless", the tender and more introspective "Cold Hearted Madness" (with a very good work on bass guitar and drums), and "When History Repeats Itself" with its elegant and accessible feeling can be named as their finest moments on the album.

Very good, besides it's nothing new.
