Dance On Broken Glass
Dead End Scene
DEAD END SCENE is a Metal band based out of the capital city of Finland. The band released a previous EP in 2014. This new EP contains three tracks.
"Only One Scene" is the opening trackn opening mid-tempo riff and vocal harmonies leads to a heavy bottom end and edgy vocal snarls, steep in the tradition of any great Hard Rock/Metal band from yesteryear. At times, the bluesy but ballsy sound reminds me of the American band THE CULT or the German band BRAINSTORM. Though they are not re-inventing the wheel, they leave it all hanging out in this track, rich with melody and enough heaviness to impress any fan of the genre. "Season Of The Wicked" swings in with some more rhythm and groove but with no loss of power and impact imparted by the vocals. They really embrace strong melody and harmony while punching you in the mouth at the same time.
The third and final track is "Watch Me Fall." This song has a deep and low main riff and goes a little further into the recesses of the dark side of the genre. Still, the chorus shines hard and strong among the heavy instrumentation. One thing that certainly comes through in this song is a sense of excitement and fun on the part of the band's compositional style. After all, isn't that what music is all about in the first place?
Overall I find the EP to my liking. Strong musicianship combines with intelligent but lively and entertaining songwriting, creating a promising new EP in the modern scene of Hard Rock/Heavy Metal.
