Danzig - The Lost Tracks Of Danzig album cover

No, don't be mistaken this isn't the new DANZIG album; Glenn went through his archive and dug out all those tracks that for some unknown and possible evil way did not make it in a full length release. Ok, now you're thinking that he has run out of ideas and put up this compilation to fill this gap. I can assure you that this is definitely not the case.
The first thing you should know about The Lost Tracks Of DANZIG is that the26 tracks included in the two CDs are placed chronologically and cover the band's entire career. Well, some of the songs had to be re-recorded since some of them existed in a demo form and others needed vocal or musical rendering. This project lasted nine months and was carried out by Glenn himself and his engineer Chris. Let me tell you some things about the music itself and please keep in mind that I am a DANZIG fan so you might probably find my review a little bit exaggerated.
The first CD almost immediately become my favorite since it covers the first 5 DANZIG albums from Danzig I to the not so greatBlackacidevil. The first track of the compilation is Pain Is Like An Animal that was originally written for SAMHAIN. It's a classic DANZIG track with Glenn's unique vocals, guitars that flirt with the punk sound and a really dark atmosphere that goes with the lyrics. Cold Cold Rain is an excellent mid tempo track that features atmospheric keyboards and an ala-Elvis vocal performance that adds the cherry on top. Buick Mckane is a T-REX song recorded with a DANZIG in your face attitude while the acoustic Come To Silver builds a sick and creepy western atmosphere. Crawl Across Your Killing Floor is another great song with a bluesy feeling all over especially in the guitar solo and of course the deep soulful vocals. Yes, Danzig is a difficult character (so they say) but in my eyes is exactly how a heavy metal persona should be and apart from that he writes great music. The first stop to the controversial I Luciferi is the pretty good Bound By Blood the not so good Malefical and Who Claims The Souless. Two more covers are included here, Gaught In My Eye from GERMS and Cat People from Bowie.
Overall, this is an excellent treat for all the DANZIG die-hard  fans who want more from this controversial artist who has been silent for almost 5 years since Circle Of Snakes emerged through the gates of hell.
