Cry Excess - Vision album cover

Although Metalcore is becoming full of bands in a way that we can't count, the formula is becoming boring and eroded. This is due the flood of many bands that aren't as good as they think of themselves, because it's difficult to be outstanding, to go to the peak where the known bands of the gender are. But in Italy, everything is possible, so the quintet CRY EXCESS is here to prove that they deserve their place. One simple listen to "Vision" and you'll see clearly what I mean.

These guys from Turin are creating a massive and powerful form of music, with fine melodies and aggressive impact. Of course, there are some Industrial influences on electronic effects used in a punctual form throughout the entire album. And they have personality, using a brutal and very good technical insight, what makes their musical work become personalized. It's nothing new at all, but it had identity. The sound quality of the album is indeed great, heavy and clean in the way that CRY EXCESS' music can sound at its peak of quality. Brutal and aggressive to the bone, but using a clear aesthetics to make their songs comprehensible, the hands of the producer and the sound engineers did really a great work. The cover is very good, showing what the album is about.

Fine and thunderous guitar riffs assault our ears on "Mess of Me", where the balance and melodies is in a good shape; the oppressive weight presented on the aggressive lines of "Survival", but pay attention to the melodic hooks and the brutal onslaught of bass guitar and drums on the song; the introspective and bitter melodic lines presented on "Down 'n Out"; the nasty and aggressive crunch which is the focus of "Detroit"; the good technical vibe of "Immortal" (filled with excellent vocals); the very good accessible melodies of "Lost and Alone"; and the drastic musical contrasts of "Chase the Sun" are the finest moments of the album. "Vision" is a very good album, and CRY EXCESS has a great future on music!
