Through The Pain
Crippled Fingers
Today, to blend influences into a specific genre is a wise decision. See: the greater part of the genres of Metal were born between the second half of the 70s and the first half of the 80s, so they evolved a lot throughout all these years. One can use influences from the past and present without problems, and it will give a different appeal to a band’s music. And from Prague (Czechia) comes CRIPPLED FINGERS, a quartet that depicts such mix on “Through the Pain”, their latest full-length. Martin “Holly” Hollandr was hired to work on the recordings, mixing and mastering, so the sonority of the album is something huge, defined (what means it’s clan due the good instrumental tunes used) and aggressive, with everything on their due places and sounding understandable. And the artwork created by Judas Tattoo is really something great.
Musically, they’re a Thrash Metal act that takes advantage of the past and the present, or in other words, you can hear influences from Groove Thrash Metal, Crossover, Classic Thrash Metal and even Death/Thrash Metal (due some grunts and blast beats heard, as on “Torch”), and even some breakdowns. It means that’s really a different approach in Thrash Metal, and it’s truly good. All the songs of “Through the Pain” are really very good, but to have a first experience on their music, “Torch” (an insane song filled with Crossover and Hardcore influences, some blast beats and modern breakdowns, depicting an excellent work on bass guitar and drums), “Soul Decay” (that depicts the same elements of the previous one, and what insane shifts between screams and low tunes of the vocals), “Moshpit Killing Machine” (the typical energetic song that cause revolutions on a live show due its insane energy, and what great guitars), “Die Where You Stand” (an insane song, here with Thiago of the Brazilian act THE WORST as guest), “Stitches” (again very good guitars on the HC influences that fills this one) and “Out of Time” will do the due presentations.
“Through the Pain” is a very good release, and CRIPPLED FINGERS will offer a new experience for Thrash Metal fans.
