In Absence
Coram Lethe
Since Death Metal bands started to improve on technical terms, and some melodies entered the genre, many good things arose from underground. Today, to play these special Death Metal genres require from the bands personality, for the number of bands playing on these ways is amazingly high. And CORAM LETHE is a good name that comes from Italy, and they are releasing their fifth album, "In Absence". Focused on creating a strong and atmospheric music, with very good and darkened melodies, we must say that they need to improve in some points, but they're really good. Their melodies have a particular way to be, maybe a musical influence from Black Metal melodic ways, but they really are good. Their musical technique is excellent, very good melodic solos are presented, but without a simple loss of their brutal essence...and it's personal!
The sound quality could be better for them, because it's a bit rawer than the needed. It's not a loss or something terrible, just could be better. But the level of clarity and the choice for the instrumental tunes is very good. Repeating: it's not bad, but could be better. They have a kind of Old School Death Metal in some aggressive parts, but it fits in their songs. And let me tell you: "In Absence" with its good melodies and fine guitars, the bitter and oppressive feeling shown on "Food for Nothingness", the bitter and melancholic touch given to "Not Been Born" and "Antimateria" by the guitars, and the long and rhythmically rich "To Rise Again" is proof of a very good band that can become great with the right chance.
CORAM LETHE has too much to offer to musical world, so listen to "In Absence" and shake your heads!
