The Deity
Construct
The English region of Stoke-on-Trent seems to be an extremely fertile region for Metal and Rock 'n' Roll. Lemmy Kilmister, BROKEN BONES and DISCHARGE are some names from there, so we must assume that there's a very good Rock 'n' Roll scene there, and it's not something that lives from the past or is stopped in time. No, because a good name as CONSTRUCT couldn't be from a place where people are with their eyes focused on the past (as it happens usually here in Brazil). Their album "The Deity" is here to proove how the quartet looks to the future with open eyes.
Their music is a melodic and modern form of Metal and Rock that combine the aggressive tunes and technique of Metalcore, Djent Metal and modern tendencies on Metal (and even some harsh vocals) with melodies from Progressive Metal and Progressive Rock. It's like you could join together PINK FLOYD, MESHUGGAH and KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, but with personality. So their music is different from other bands, and this means a lot in a time like this one we are living now.
The sound quality is really very good, done with care and in the view that CONSTRUCT musical personality has many faces to deal. The final result could be a bit better, because it's not perfect, but you'll hear and understand what they are playing with no problem at all. Their songs flow heavy and clear, and this matters a lot.
All their songs are excellent, beings heavy and progressive, but keeping the Djent elements understandable in all moments. But for a first insight of "The Deity", I suggest you to pay a better attention on fine technical work on the melodic lines of "When Conscience Calls", the beautiful "The Molecular Level" and hooking contrast between aggressiveness and tender melodies on "Justify the Means", the grasping Djent elements of "Devil Inside" and "Whole Again", the low tuned riffs of "Riding Through" (fine melodic guitar solos are presented on the album, an amazing feature on their work that is not usual on the genre), the excellent work from bass and drums on "Opposing Force", and the excellent vocals presented on "The Deity".
They are a very good band, indeed!
