Some people hates the 90's, due the coming of Grunge/Alternative Music on the United States, taking place of Hard Rock and Metal in the musical parade charts. The simple mention of some names from that scene is a great taboo, especially if you're dealing with fans from clones of 80 Thrash Metal bands (the most mischievous and boring people on Earth. How in the blazes someone who born on the 90's can miss a time he/she didn't live?). But those times have a good heritage, for some god names arose back then, as SOUNDGARDEN, ALICE IN CHAINS, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and MONSTER MAGNET. Their greater contribution was to bring back some feeling from the 60's and 70's that was lost. And taking this feeling and way to make music is the French quintet COFFIN ON TYRES that comes with "Erase".

Hearing "Erase" is something really good. It has the Stoner/Southern Rock vibe, but with very good aspects from last two bands I mention above, with a bitter as raw music, but with an abrasive way of making music as well. The mix of good vocals, catching riffs, strong rhythmic basis is not something new, but is very god to our ears.

In terms of sound quality, we can say that it's very good indeed, clear and abrasive. Clear to the point you can hear and recognize each musical instrument in every note played, but abrasive to give that oiled feeling and heavy as Hell. It's a very good work from the band, along the mixing engineer Thomas Bellier and the mastering engineer Matt Hyde. And some special guests are presented on the album: Sam Kûn no vocals on "Right on Time", and Jeff Pautrat (doublebass), Thomas Faucheur (sax), and Xavier Valoteau (harmonica) on "Leeches".

The band composes long songs (one with 4:54, and another with 5:05 minutes), so you better have some care with their work. No, it's far away to be boring, as songs like "Blackbones", "Erase, Destruct Then Fix Up Again" and the giant "Leeches" are here to proof, but for non used fans, can be something astonishing.

A good work, indeed, and has potential to be better in the future.
