Master Satan's Witchery
Bestial Raids
The past is the past, and can't be changed. The future lies ahead and only our actions can say what will come. So we need to focus our attention on our acts of this moment, of the present times. It's a Buddhist point of view that I strongly appreciate. Of course, the past has many things to teach. Some lessons are important, and even bands as BESTIAL RAIDS, an insane Black/Death Metal trio from Poland, has many things to say, as their new album, called "Master Satan's Witchery", is here to prove.
It's a chaotic and violent way to play Death/Back Metal in its more traditional sense, reminiscent of the formula that SARCÓFAGO, BLASPHEMY and MYSTIFIER used, focused on extreme and raw sounds. But this formula, although not new, can be useful in the hands of guys that know what they are doing. BESTIAL RAIDS know, for sure they know! The sound quality is really raw and aggressive, keeping that dirty and organic feeling from the past. But don't take nasty conclusions, for the work of VK on the mixing and mastering makes this noisy and brutal sound, respecting some points that make the whole sound aesthetics works as it needs. Even being so nasty, you can understand their songs, and it fits in the way their music must be.
As the band has an Old School outfit on their work, the album has only seven songs. But they keep their work in a high level, even not being something new. The bloody puke of "Elder Devilry" (fast and furious, showing a very good work on the grunting voices), the harsh tempos and insane guitar riffs of "Excrements of Creation", the brutal grasp of "Descending the Thantifaxath" (where you'll hear a good work from bass guitar and drums) and the abrasive slow parts of "Angel of the Abyss" can be said as their best moments, besides the entire album is very good. This is a very good work from these maniacs from Poland!
