Wow, what the fuck is happening here??? Is it a massacre?

Yes, this is the clear idea that we have when we turn on the CD player and play "Necrobreed", the new album from the French quintet BENIGHTED. Here. There's no space for melodies, no time for rest. Here, there's nothing like that, it's a massive strike of the most brutal and oppressive Death Metal you can find.

If on the "Carnivore Sublime" review I said that they could do better than they did, I personally think that my words unleashed a true and gorgeous monster, because "Necrobreed" is a furious onslaught of fast brutality. But now, they are making some really good songs, balancing their Brutal Death Metal way with a more refined insight on their musical arrangements (without leaving aside their spontaneity). It's brutal, oppressive to our bones, but excellent! There Brutal Death Metal ghouls had as their partner in crime on the studio Kristian "Kohle" Kohlmannslehner, who produced, recorded, mixed and mastered the album. And he did a fine work, because the brutality is aligned with a heavy and clear sound quality that makes clear that the filthy and rawness of their work comes from the instrumental tunes that were chosen in a perfect match to their songs. And the artwork created by Gary Ronaldson is really very good.

They unleash 11 massive killings on the album, something that the fans of Brutal Death Metal will love. But they show excellent moments on songs as "Reptilian" (what a great work from guitars and vocals), the brutal assault of great drumming and fine bass playing called "Psychosilencer" (these blast beats created by former NECROPHAGIST drummer Romain Goulon are really excellent, conducing perfectly the band's rhythm), the ironic and iconic "Forgive Me Father" (the contrast between shrieked vocals with guttural grunts is amazing), the technical insight used on the fast and brutal "Leatherface", the explosion of assassin guitars shown on "Der Doppelgaenger", the hooking and hypnotizing chorus of "Monsters Make Monsters", the killing vocals shown on "Versipellis", the oppressive slow moments presented on "Reeks of Darkened Zoopsia", and the very good modern atmosphere that permeates the aggressive and thunderous "Mass Grave".

Well, if you wanted to shut my mouth up, guys, you got it. I had to swallow my tongue (not literally, please). And we need that BENIGHTED stay in this shape, because if monsters make monsters, you created a monster that can eclipse many good names of your musical style.
