Well, again I have to deal with a band with music that reminds me of a time that passed long ago... But it doesn't mean that it is bad work.

Yes, this is what BENESSER, a trio from Sweden, is about, as their new album, "Purpose & Cause" shows us clearly.

Mixing influences from Rock and Roll from the 60's and 70's with great doses of Pop Rock and some Progressive Rock touches here and there (nothing to great, but they are really here), they create a tender and warmth form of music. And no, there's no space for virtuous playing and no musical aggressiveness, because it's not a Prog Metal album. To be honest: it's not a Metal album at all.

The sound quality, as we all could expect, is extremely clean and we can understand their musical work with no great efforts. But there are some points on their songs where some light distorted moments appear. But again I must say: it's not a Metal album, so do not expect something harsh and powerful.

Good vocals (but they need to improve a bit more. Maybe the use of many tunes could be a possibility to them, but this is only a tip, not a demand), melodic guitar riffs (using a clean insight on a great part of time), good vocals, and an efficient rhythmic kitchen are the elements you can find on all the songs of "Purpose & Cause". But some good moments are presented on songs as "Purpose & Cause" (a truly Pop orientated Rock song, with some efficient guitars and some tender moments), the hooking "Who Am I" (again the use of many slow and tender moments, but the result is good again), the energetic "Patience" (with a more distorted insight, presenting a good work done by bass guitar and drums), and the introspective and almost Dream Rock ballad, "The Past, The Present, The Future".

Yes, they can be a good name for the ones who know and love bands as ALCEST. But for some Metallians, the ones who prefer something more full of energy and aggressiveness, stay away.<
