It's strange sometimes, that England disappears from the Rock and Metal scenes, besides, those sacred lands gave birth to many great names to both scenes, and even to Punk Rock, Hardcore, and even to Pop Rock and Progressive. But from time to time, some very good names appear on those shores, and now it's time for AMPLIFIER appears to us with their new album, "Mystoria".
Of course their music is charming and really catching, with tons of accessibility to many, being a mix between some musical influences as BLACK SABBATH, SOUNDGARDEN, PINK FLOYD and some psychedelic feelings from the 60s and 70s. But don't get the wrong idea, for the band's works is fully alive, has a strong personality, and has tons of energy. In some manner, we could say that their work reminds a more simple and accessible MASTODON, but this doesn't really makes justice to their music as well as a fully audition to the album.
The sound quality of the album is finest, keeping the band's atmosphere linked to the 70s, but it's clear, heavy and oiled as their personality demands. It's clear and thunderous, but with the essential dirty and distortion they need.
Some intricate guitar riffs, bass and drums on a heavy and technical rhythmic basis, and vocals taking the duties to be melodic and harsh (in normal voice tunes, mind you all), and the CD is excellent from its beginning to the end, with some extremely good songs as the charming and heavy "Black Rainbow", the more commercial "Cat's Cradle", the thunderous "Bride", the strong "OMG", and the wonderful "Crystal Anthem".
Give them a chance, give them a hearing, and become addicted!<
