42 Decibel - Overloaded album cover

We need to remember that Heavy Metal and Rock 'n' Roll are just forms of music. Yes, we are in love with both styles, but we must keep in mind that we must have fun with them. Fun is an important part of life, and everybody must enjoy what you are listening to. Although the music that 42 DECIBEL is doing isn't new, it's really fun, and their new album, "Overloaded", is quite charming.

The quartet efforts aren't focused on the creation of a new musical style in Metal or Rock, and aren't in search of the Holy Grail of both styles either. No, far away from these ideas, because these guys are playing the old, nasty, filthy and simple Rock 'n' Roll with some Punk Rock and Blues influences, like a new MOTORHEAD or AC/DC. And maybe their lack of musical pretensions is what make their musical work so lovely and charming. And it's greatly fun, of course. The sound quality of "Overloaded" seems to be done with analogous amps and systems, because it's truly raw and filthy. No, it's not bad in their case, because the band is not sounding moldy and we can understand what they are playing, and what their songs stand for.

All their ten songs are really good, barrels loaded with beer and tons of fun. But the catchy nasty melodies of "Whiskey Joint" (with its very good guitars and chorus), the Bluesy nasty feeling that permeates "Dangerous Mess", the funny vocals of "Brawler", the high blend of adrenaline and whiskey presented on the energy of "Hot Shot", the larky energy and very good work from bass guitar and drums presented on "Half Face Dead", the funny Rock 'n' Roll "Lost Case", and the catchy raw melodies of "Cannon Fodder" can be said as their finest moments. It's not creative, nothing new at all, and a big "fuck you" in the face of us all, on an album like "Overloaded" you can trust. Listen it, and buy it at once! My hermanos of South America are really amazing!
