3Teeth - Metwar album cover

The subgenres of Industrial Metal can be astonishing sometimes, and truly boring at others. The commercial success of names as RAMMSTEIN on the last 15 years can be traced as one of the reasons for new names approach for an accessible form of it, instead the use of a chaotic approach in the same vein of MINISTRY. So, the North American quintet 3TEETH can be said as a band that tries to be accessible, but with a modern weighty insight, as "Metawar" shows. Industrial Metal with a musical accessible outfit that can reach a broader public, but with a modern set of grotesque influences from Groove Metal as well. As said above, they into a modern way so don't expect the brutality and aggressiveness that many bands showed on the past, but something melodic that can hook the listener by the ears. And even some Gothic Rock influences can be heard as well.

The greasy and bitter sound quality of the album, created by the hands of Sean Beavan (that mixed the album) and Howie Weinberg (who did the mastering) is modern and clear in a way that anyone can understand what is being played. It's a very good work, indeed, but something that could be expected for the genre. To those who already know Industrial Metal tendencies will fell that "Metawar" represents another good album from the genre, but it lacks something to be called an outstanding release. Of course songs as the hypnotic "Affluenza" (aggressive and sharp, but still melodic), the modern and bitter melodies of "EXXXIT" and of "American Landfill" (this one with some guitar riffs that will remind the listener of SEPULTURA from the "Roots" era), the introspective rhythm of "ALTÆR", the good aggressive ambiences of "Bornless" and of the nasty "Sell Your Face 2.0", and their good version for FOSTER THE PEOPLE's "Pumped Up Kicks" are good songs, but something is needed to their work go to the next level.

Yes, "Metalwar" isn't a bad album, but 3TEETH must look for something to improve and conquer a broader public.
