It was the day when Winter came to Rio De Janeiro before Autumn's end, and a heavy rain felt on the city since the earlier hours of the afternoon. But do you think that the Metallians from Rio De Janeiro would miss OBITUARY's first show on the city, a part of their "Classic Set-List Take Over" tour, so you're wrong: they're a legend amongst extreme Metal fans here, so every sacrifice must be done.

The venue was totally full since the opening, for the was no band to make a warm up show before the Floridian Death Metal legends get on the stage, so precisely at 21:30 o'clock, they get on the stage, causing a frenzy on the fans. And started playing classics like "Stinkupuss", "Intoxicated" and "Immortal Visions". And the sound quality was wonderful, clear and heavy.

And by the missing, shaved, beard of your old Big Daddy here, I felt like I was back to the first years of the 90's, for the band was in the very same form from back then, playing perfectly and getting wild on the stage.

John Tardy still sings on the very same level, without losing aggressiveness or his peculiar tunes, as well as command the public as he walks and sings. Trevor Pérez is insane on the stage, a whirlwind of hair, playing and banging his head all the time, and the new guitarist Kenny Andrews is really amazing as well, banging his head. The legendary bassist Terry Butler (notorious for his works of DEATH, MASSACRE, and SIX FEET UNDER) stay focuses on playing, but of course he gets wild on the stage. And Donald Tardy plays really heavy his drums, hitting his kits with strength and will. And if I didn't have a good timing, I'd swear we were on the "The End Complete" era!

Besides this tour was focused on material from "Slowly We Rot", "Cause of Death" and "The End Complete" albums, the band surprised us all playing three new tracks, that'll be on their new album. And besides your Ol' Daddy couldn't get the names of them, I can make this statement: they're very good songs, on the same way from the older albums, so, you won't be disappointed. And as they played more songs, a giant ring of slamdancing appeared and endured until the show's end, and I can guarantee that this vision turned the band more energetic and wild on the stage. And it's wonderful to see them playing classics as "Gates of Hell", "Turned Inside Out", the hymn "The End Complete" and "Body Bag". Insanity reigned!

Of course they stop some few minutes after each three or four songs go breathe some air and drink water, but nothing to stop the madness on the venue.

After "Dead Silence", they left the stage, but the fans called them back screaming to the very soul, and they got back with an encore, having a new song, "I'm in Pain", and their greatest classic, "Slowly We Rot", with all the public singing, screaming, the moshpit ring got bigger and violent than before, but as the show ended, the public got near the stage to salute the band, who shows to be humble and heart tendered guys. And after some minutes of a little rest (they deserve it, of course!), Kenny, Trevor and Terry came to talk with the public, autograph CDs and posters, take pics and all that kind of stuff. And a little while, John and Donald came as well.

A wonderful show, and thanks to Teatro Odisséia for becoming the house of Metal on the city, to Blog'n'Roll Produções for the excellent job and structure, and Rock Brigade Concerts for bringing the band to Brazil.
