MILESTONES - a journey into the dark heart of the song
Milestones festival - a vanguard musical event bringing into sharp focus the emerging revival of the 'Laurel Canyon Sound' & The Golden Age of Songwriting that has from it's Californian roots translated across the Atlantic, manifesting in the British music scene. With UK artists such as Laura Marling, Duke Garwood, Michael Kiwenuka, and Saint Leonard's Horses, Blue Print Blue heralding a return to the classic 70s writing and recording approach - a renewed intent on songwriting as an art, rendering complex heartfelt songs informed by landmark 'Classic' albums. Milestones will bring to the fore this new scene with a carefully curated line-up of Established Artists and new acts brought together for a day of cool, crafted, wild mercury music.
In the 1970s, particularly in California, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Joni Mitchell, The Grateful Dead et al informed a generation on what can be done with song. More recently Jonathan Wilson has been at the vanguard of this art form, taking the baton and running with it as Musician, producer and genuine guru. At his studio in Echo Park he has produced three of the astonishing 'Father John Misty' records plus albums for 'Roy Harper' 'David Crosby' 'Karen Elson' amongst many others. Milestones presents the UK practitioners of this burgeoning scene as an ongoing platform:
