Antilogos: Arcane Transmutation in the Temple of Flesh
Indoctrinate
There are times when a writer is hearing an album, the main idea that comes is of a kind of 'confusion' is happening in a band. This happens because a band is trying to express its music, but its forcing things in a way that isn't the right one. That's usually occurs when the band's members are bounding themselves with musical models that exist. These words mean that you can love some bands, but you're not them. And this is what happens on the work form Chilean trio INDOCTRINATE, as can be heard on its first release, "Antilogos: Arcane Transmutation in the Temple of Flesh".
The band plays on an Old School Death/Black model that is similar to extreme Metal masters from SARCÓFAGO and VULCANO, but with Death/Black influences from BEHERIT as well. But their ideas are very good, because the band, even releasing this album now, has an experience that comes from H.O.E.V.'s early band, SADISTIK GOATHAMMER. The band's musical ideas are good, and their expressions are filled with energy, besides the technical work is extremely simple.
The album's problem: its sound quality. It's to putrid and crude that is similar to the worst recordings of the early days of the genre. It's extremely hard sometimes to understand what the band is trying to show, because the sonority does not help in this aspect. And some tunes could be better (especially on the drums). If the sonority was a bit better (just a bit)...
Musically, "N.A.G.I.T.H.A." (fine energy and good grunts), "Arcane Ectasis" (very good rhythmic changes, and it means a solid work from bass guitar and drums), the catchy guitar riffs of "Barbaric Asencion", the very good slow parts of "Savagery", and the extreme crush of tempos heard on "Antediluvian Experiencia (Celebrate in Profane Exaltation)" are songs that show how these guys are talented, but they seem to be 'locked up' by old models of sonority.
For a first coming, "Antilogos: Arcane Transmutation in the Temple of Flesh" is a good release and shows that the fans can believe on INDOCTRINATE's work. But a cleaner sound would help them to improve a lot, and would perfectly on what they're doing.
