When the 90's musical trends stormed the USA charts and parades, this time witnessed not only the fall of Metal genres until the rock bottom of the underground, but the first elements of what would be called and Modern/Alternative Rock in the future. Yes, the same elements that can be heard today were seeded back on those days. And many bands used them into a more brutal and aggressive way, but others use in a melodic and accessible way, as the sextet SYDNEY FATE, from UK. And this aspect can be heard clearly on "Silicon Nitrate".

On the album, they show an Alternative Rock orientation that could be said as influences by the first Grunge/Alternative set of bands from the 90's (especially by names as PEARL JAM and SILVERCHAIR) due its melodic and commercially insight, but bearing modern influences for some aggressive parts (and nasty screams and grunts as well). It's nothing that is unusual or wasn't heard before, besides the band has its own personal charm.

The band had the help of the Sam and Joe Graves (known as the Graves Brothers, who worked previously with names as ASKING ALEXANDRIA) on the production, and the made things in a way that the accessible side of the sextet's music become evident. Everything sounds clean and on their due places, with the right instrumental tunes, but trying to give the songs an organic feeling.

The band shows a good commercial direction, but it needs improvements in the way of being more personal, because their music still resembles many names. But the fine blend of melodies with an opportunist accessibility shown on "Sound Alive", the hooking silk aggressiveness of "Falling Forward", the introspective and deeply melodic outfit of "Chelsey Grin", the modern set of contrasts heard on "Oceans" and on "Home" are the ones who shows a band with potential, that just need more shows to be in the right point.

The work of SYDNEY FATE isn't for those addicted on chaos, weight and violence, but for those who wants to hear something melodic, accessible and modern. And "Silicon Nitride" shows that their future is really promising!
