Coffin Birth - The Serpent Insignia album cover

COFFIN BIRTH have thrust upon us a masterpiece of Death Metal entitled "The Serpent Insignia". The Italian/Maltese Death Metal band comes in as hard as a tank hitting you square in the face. This band is absolutely not fucking around and are here to tear your head clean off your shoulders. I promise you after you have listened to this ten track album, you are going to listen to it on repeat until you start bleeding profusely from every orifice and your head explodes. So lets get going on this astonishing Death Metal journey into the depths of the Underworld.

The first track up is "Throne of Skulls" and it is truly what I consider to be Death Metal perfected. From the Vocals by Frank Calleja and Guitars by Giulio Moschin and  Francesco Paoli, to the Drums played by Davide Billia and Bass played by Marco Mastrobuono. This song is as brutal as they come and it tore the flesh from my face and force fed it to me. The next song "The 13th Apostle" is just as brutal and made me want to go set my car on fire and drive it straight off a cliff while banging my head the entire way down. And the solo in this one was placed with perfection. Two tracks in and this is one of the best Pure Death Metal albums I have heard in quite some time.

The sheer brutality of this album so far is amazing and we just now got to the third song "Godless Wasteland". This track really reminds me of BLOODBATH in the best way possible. And those fucking triplets on the drums are insane! Like the only thing I can really say about this one is GOD DAMN! This is one of those songs that will make you hit someone in the face for no reason. The next track up is "Red Sky Season" and this album shows no signs of slowing down in the slightest. This track however felt a little groovy to me in the most metal way possible. This song also has and Old School feel to it which makes me extremely happy.

"Christ Infection Jesus Disease" comes in full force and is only here to fuck your ear drums all the way up. The entire band is absolutely phenomenal on this track, quite honestly I think this may be a perfect album so far. How do you say holy shit in Italian? These guys are absolute beasts and they must know it. Up next we have "From the Dead to the Dead" and if you don't start banging your head to this one you need to go re-evaluate your entire existence. This song had me growling right along with them and once again the Guitar solo was immaculate.

"Casket Ritual" comes on and I start to wonder if this album is progressively getting heavier and heavier each track. Where has this band been all of my life? And the breakdown towards the middle of the song is amazing. "Sanguinary" is just as epic as the previous song but I want to talk about the second to last track. The Serpent Insignia" is by far my favorite song on the album hands down. I don't even know what it is exactly that makes me love this song, but it blew me away. This song is now one of my favorite songs right now. I mark this one with my seal of approval and demand you go and listen to it right now.

The final song on this distinguished album is "Zombie Anarchy". This is how you end a fucking album! I was seconds away from bashing my head all the way through my table as well as my laptop. To people out there trying to figure out how to make a great Death Metal album, this, this right here is how it's done. This album had me on the edge from the beginning and it was unforgiving. Go out and purchase this immediately or you will never forgive yourself.
