Well, it's fine to see some bands trying to bring back the sonorities of the past sometimes. But again the very same words: to play on these days a form of music that is buried under the sands of time, you are intimate to breathe some life on it. Yes, because just to play as the ancients did 30 or 40 years ago is just to remake, and it has no meaning, because if I already have an album from, as an example, DEEP PURPLE, I don't need a band sounding like DEEP PURPLE.  Got it? Finally, we can speak about the Spanish band KABBALAH.

These girls have guts: they play that old form of Occult Rock/Classic Rock in the vein of the ancient bands as COVEN and GHOST (on their earlier works), with the same psychedelic, nasty and raw old feeling, but using very good melodies and with a great amount of raw energy flowing from the speakers. It isn't the newest thing in the world, but it has its personality and charm. As their melodic and hard sound needs something heavy, they got it. The sound quality is not as raw as we are used from many bands of the same genre, but they try something cleaner, with the rawness from their songs coming from their choice for the instrumental tunes (something organic and near the most natural tunes as they can find).

Their songs are all fine, and they created very good and spontaneous melodies. But the nasty melodies and weight of "Resurrected", the "sabbathical" insight of "Phantasmal Planetoid", the tribal and evil energy that flows from "The Reverend", the hooking heavy and intense Bluesy touch of "The Darkness of Time" and the fine melodic lines of "The Shadow" and "Presence" are their best moments.

A good and talented band, indeed, but I believe that they can do better... The future will show!
