Paint the Devil
KrashKarma
Modern Metal bands are truly searching for new ways to create a personal work. That's a very good idea, because Metal can be walking on circles eternally. There is space enough for modern and older ways of sound, and it's a matter of respecting each other choice. And there are excellent works in Modern ways, as the North American duo KRASHKARMA that is arriving with their second album, "Paint the Devil". It is truly modern, heavy and thunderous, having influences from accessible musical styles, but keeping the needed aggressiveness. Yes, they have on their songs those charming touches that can bind us to their music, due some catching melodies. But don't go thinking that their music has no weight, because it can really turn your ears to pieces in many moments due the harsh aggressiveness that they use.
The sound quality is very good, and the production was done in a way that their musical work can sound aggressive due the modern distorted tunes used on the album. But as well we can hear their songs and each musical instrument with no problem, what means that the clearness is great. Their 11 songs are very good ("Paint the Devil" is just and intro), but you can find a great range of musical influences on each one of them. But to the lazy ones, we can hear the band in its best moments on the complex and abrasive "She Spreads the Darkness" (very good drumming and with those brutal tunes on guitars and bass), the overdose of weight and energy presented on "Still Bleed" (some guitar riffs are really nasty, but there's a melodic bottom behind it all), the melodic and tender "Sacrifice" (with fine and melodic female vocals in contrast with male harsh tunes), the violent "Come Closer" (with a fine and tender chorus in a middle of a song filled with intense Industrial elements), the heavy weight of the introspective and nasty "Bridges Going Nowhere" (that is truly accessible to a broader public), the fast and hardcore-ized "Ghost in a Machine" with its hooking guitars and Industrial moments, and the mix between tender melodies and raw aggressiveness the is shown on "Map of a Human Soul".Their work is really good, and "Paint the Devil" is a fine opportunity for all of those who want to know their work.
