No Wrong - Prognostic Of a Great Disaster album cover

It's good to see some Old School Metal bands trying to breathe some life into the stile time and time again, for this not only keep old Metal genres alive, but as well creates something new to our ears. And Brazilian quartet NOWRONG, from Osasco, São Paulo, after three good EPs, now comes with their first Full Length, "Prognostic of a Great Disaster".

They do Thrash Metal in a way before 1986, when the genre had so defined boundaries, and a lot of good melodies were present on the albums from that time, as well as powerful riffs and great choruses. And on the case of NOWRONG, they follow the vein of earlier METALLICA, MEGADETH and TESTAMENT, but with lots of melodies and some Motorheadian pulses here and there.

The vocals have good normal tunes, not using harsh or guttural voices, excellent guitar riffs and melodic solos (on them, you'll feel the Motorheadian influences I told above sometimes), and bass and drums with good technique, forming a heavy artillery to blow your ears out. And be prepared: they'll do that if you stay too near, but as well, you'll get addicted to that, my nieces and nephews.

The sound production done, in partnership with Lau Andrade, is very clear, having all the instruments clear in a way you can hear all of them separately, but in a heavy way (it's a Metal album, mind you all). But it could be a bit better, for sometimes it sounds kind of "hollow" here and there. The artwork, done by Jean Michel, is fine, presenting the album in a violent way on the way it sounds.

The band's music is mature, no doubt about that, and hearing the best tracks you'll have this idea clearly. Take a good hear on "Psycho Violence (Proletarian)" (a moderate tempo constructed song, with great riffs), the hooking classic "Discourse of the Wicked" (great riffs, indeed), the abrasive "Taste the Hate" (great chorus and drums works), "Angels in Hell" (a Hard'n'Roll song, with a NWOBHM feeling and MOTORHEAD influence is clear here), and the band's version for "Trem do Inferno" (it means hell's train in Portuguese), from Rock'n'Roll band CRETINOS E CANALHAS from São Paulo, sounding like an AC/DC in a Thrash Metal embodiment.

Great album, indeed!
