And Germany gave birth to another darkened child, in form of a Blackened Death Metal trio, ABYSSOUS, that arrives with their first album, "...Smouldering", a real morbid release.

The band doesn't do something of new in terms of music, but this doesn't mean that it's not a good work. It's a Death Metal in the vein of those ancients that came at the end of 80's, principle of 90's, like earlier PESTILENCE, SINISTER and others, or we can say: a more simple and harsh Death Metal, but with a dark atmosphere.

Vocals coming from the depths of a putrid cave, efficient guitar riffs, bass and drums getting along to create a rhythm mass heavy and pounding, sometimes fast (but not in the ways of nowadays fast bands as VITAL REMAINS) and sometimes more slower and darkened. A brutal and oppressive music, indeed.

A raw sound production is what awaits you, but if it's not as good as I would like, it's enough to hear their good musical work. The only thing that could be really better is the sound volume.

In terms of music, they really do a good music, as we all can hear in songs like the fast "Abominations" (good work from guitar and vocals), the aggressive and abrasive "Invocation" (with some very good tempo changing, and the drums shows a simple, but efficient technique), and the insane "The Inverter".

It's a good album, but we can see that they really can do better than this. And if they do so, let's be prepared for world's end.
