Acts of Blood
Fermento
These veterans are still worthy of being heard, and this excellent release is a Death/Black Metal 'muts have' item.

It's strange sometimes as the name of a Metal genre can influence people, so the best is to evade early conceptions and try things by listening bands for yourself (what as usual for the fans back in the 80s). A fine example of such thing can be heard on "Acts of Blood", the fourth and latest full-length of the Spanish trio FERMENTO.
B.S.T. (of DOEDSVANGR, GENITAL GRINDER, PRO DEATH CORPS and others, and former ABORTED guitarist) worked on the mixing (and played the drums as well), guaranteeing a brutal and 'hand-made' sonority, with sharp and simple instrumental tunes, but everything sounds defined and on their due places, and as guest, here is MkM on the additional vocals. The artwork is signed by Álvaro Argeles, and fits on the band's musical work.
Some descriptions labeled the band's music as Brutal Death Metal, and nothing could be far from the truth than this conception. Their music, in reality, sounds as a form of Death/Black Metal before the canonization of Polish Death/Black Metal School (what many emulates today), or in other words, it's something blending influences of classic Death Metal with Black Metal of the Second Wave traces. It's truly brutal, but in a Death/Black Metal sense, with a good technical work (especially during the rhythmic shifts). Prepare for the attack, because these Galician demons are up to storm your ears with violence!
The songs are really excellent, bringing something from the past in their musical expressions, but pulsing with a newborn energy. And after hearing to what is depicted on "Taste Emptiness", "My Wish is to End Their Breath", "Under Fire", "In Eternal Hunger" (and aggressive and very good instrumental song), "All Shall Kneel to Chaos", "The Stench Spreading to Your Progeny" and "Isolation Nation", the fans can be sure that even after more than 30 years, the band is still working in a great shape, with astonishing vocals (not with growls or snarls, but remember something in an ANGELCORPSE way), excellent guitar riffs and arrangements, and a thunderous and heavy work on bass guitar and drums. It's truly very good.
It's clear that FERMENTO is still working in a very good level, and "Acts of Blood" is truly a very good release, indeed.
