Tygers Of Pan Tang

Since “Animal Instinct” was released, TYGERS OF PAN TANG have avoided giving us sub standard music. Every album since then has hit the mark in quality and intensity.

From the EPK info: Robb Weir, TYGERS OF PAN TANG founder and keeper of the flame, was at a cross roads. He had tried to keep the Tygers alive with differing lineups but now he was in the position of seeing his hopes dissolve completely as the band were unable to find just the right vocalist. He was determined to give it one more chance and the band cast around for a new front man. He knew that this was possibly his last chance. Enter Jack Meille, resident of Florence and possessor of a set of pipes that could not only do justice to the TYGERS OF PAN TANG back catalogue, but crucially, create the hard rock melodies essential to the band’s sound for the future. And l,o and behold, it is just so, as the good man still is the vocalist for TYGERS OF PAN TANG.

In 2008 “Animal Instinct” was the very first album with Jack Meille as the singer. Now, some sixteen years later, the band thought it time to remix the album and add an extra track, as to give it the attention it deserves. When you look at the info that came with the music, they say that it is for fans of IRON MAIDEN, SAXON and THIN LIZZY. They are forgetting the two main ones; TYGERS OF PAN TANG and DIAMOND HEAD. As for the latter, you can twist this as you like, there are so many similarities on “Animal Instinct” you would have been forgiven for classing this as one of their albums. But if you listen carefully, you will hear a lot of riffs and parts that are typical of eighties era TYGERS OF PAN TANG.

Although the band will never be able to equal the popularity the experienced during those first years of their existence they are still going strong without having to look back. I have to admit that since “Animal Instinct” was released, TYGERS OF PAN TANG have avoided giving us sub standard music. Every album since then has hit the mark in quality and intensity. Even more so when you see them live, as they still are a proper tour de force on stage. The new songs easily hold their own next to all the classics this band has produced. As for this TYGERS OF PAN TANG release; I like the fact that “Animal Instinct” has been given a second life. Oh, the accompanying video is from the original release (2008).
