The Square starts off as a ripper, loses some traction midway, gets back on course, and then runs into a wall of 80’s sentimentality. To be fair, four of the five tracks are very, very good, pretty much making the EP well worth the price of admittance.

All in all, I didn’t hate FELLOWSHIP’s “The Skies Above Eternity” but it’s not really my cup of tea either. This might be an ok introduction to metal that is catchy and to the point but for hardcore power metal fans, this isn't going to hold much interest.

As far as power metal goes, this is a simple but effective album that provides a solid romp through their magical brand of soaring metal. If you don’t like power metal, “Nova Atlantis” won’t change your mind. If you are a power metal fan, you’ll get some mileage out of this but don’t expect it to blow your mind.
