Unén - Forever Winter
November 4, 2025
Musically the band know where they need to get their ideas from, and they are widely spread. Due to the musical genre UNÉN is using, there are the usual suspects, which I will not mention. The reason for that being is that I feel that you need to listen to the twelve songs on “Forever Winter” in their own merit, experience and judge them as their own entities instead of comparing them to any name I might have mentioned.

Strangers - Boundless
October 25, 2025
The Melodic Rock that STRANGERS play can be classed as solid, straight forward and direct. The band just doesn’t do strange breaks, difficult passages or weird tempo changes. Nope, nothing in that direction. “Boundless” is brutally honest, very much open and completely transparent in music as well as sound, as it has a brilliant production.

Glenn Hughes – Chosen
September 5, 2025
The quality of his voice is as strong as it ever was. He still has the power to make the music come out stronger than it originally is. And he is still able to make it sound like a piece of cake when he opens that mouth if his and starts making the right noises.

Eternal Idol - Behind a Vision
July 14, 2025
They are straight to the point, nothing goes over 5 minutes, it's pull no punches in your face Metal. It's something that is not akin to the Symphonic Metal genre, so that's quite the departure from the usual standards. I felt it was a great way to stand out from any band in the genre, transcending maybe the future of the genre?

Sick N’ Beautiful – Horror Vacui
May 12, 2025
“Horror Vacui” is a delivery of everything the bands stand for: an unpredictable mixture of alternative, modern, and industrial Metal with powerful guitar work and an excellent vocalist, who is driving the whole album sound

Robin McAuley, the voice that defined the sound of supergroups MCAULEY/SCHENKER and BLACK SWAN is back with his third solo album and is out to prove why he should always be included in the conversation of “best singers of rock” with this latest release “Soulbound”.

Van Zant - Always Look Up
December 9, 2024
The lyrical content of “Always Look Up” makes it very clear about what has happened with the VAN ZANT brothers in their musical as well as family lives. They are all written and sung in plain English, without mincing words or intentions. What it boils down to is that after some 20 years of chasing their dreams they found that it was time to return to the beliefs they had before that time.
review
Sunstorm - Restless Fight
December 9, 2024
You would think that I have a membership for reviewing albums where Ronnie Romero is the singer. But I haven’t, it just turns out that he is singing on a lot of albums that I consider interesting.

Aries Descendant - From The Ashes Of Deceit
November 27, 2024
As soon as the intro “From The Ashes Of Deceit” starts you are expecting warriors to stand up and point their sword to the skies and start shouting about True Metal.

Palace – Reckless Heart
July 22, 2024
This was a fantastic album that brought the feel good melodies from the 1980’s to today, like a time machine. The vocals and ensuing harmonies might have been the best part, but those catchy guitar riffs and glittering keyboards were not too far behind.

Cobrakill - Serpent’s Kiss
May 9, 2024
Wow, this Glam Metal album really can bring a bloom of what the first half of the 80s Glam Metal was up to.

Smoking Snakes – Danger Zone
March 11, 2024
The band name is bad ass, their look is bad ass and they hail from Sweden, the hot bed of bad ass hard rocking bands, so I’ll add this bad ass joke: I tried smoking snakes but couldn’t keep them lit (sorry).

Cruzh – The Jungle Revolution
March 11, 2024
Sweden, the country that gave us delicious tiny meatballs, but also gave us IKEA which I cuss them out every time after It takes me hours to put together a simple little book case and still have parts left over and can only calm myself down by remembering just how many fantastic rock bands the country has produced as well, so I’ll go into this review with high hopes for the Swedish rockers CRUZH.

Ronnie Romero - Too Many Lies, Too Many Masters
November 27, 2023
I hear a lot of influences flying by, and all of it put together makes “Too Many Lies, Too Many Masters” into a very pleasant album, on which RONNIE ROMERO can finally show what he is made of. And he is made out of stern stuff.

Seventh Wonder - Waiting In The Wings (Reissue)
November 22, 2023
And I have to tell you up front that in my ears and eyes “Waiting In The Wings” is SEVENTH WONDER’s most proggy album that I will be reviewing. It has the biggest number of elaborate turns and twists, without ever losing sight of the story they are trying to tell.
review
Seventh Wonder - The Great Escape (Reissue)
November 22, 2023
I just feel the safety harness has been pulled too tight, especially after their very heavy preceding album “Mercy Falls”. If they would have let loose on every song, like they have on the opening two, this would have been a cracking review.

Seventh Wonder - Mercy Falls (Reissue)

As for the Progressive Rock element, they are there, and I have to say, all used at exactly the right time in the proper way. All these elements put together have made this one heck of an impressive album.
