Predatory Void – Atoned in Metamorphosis
January 21, 2026
Although it’s just an EP, the band gave me a full taste of flavor, and I am intrigued. Indeed, they do blend a lot of genres together into a soup that has seasoning. But, if you try to separate out the parts, you will ruin the recipe. You just need to sit back and let it blend together, despite how uncomfortable it might make you feel.

Astarte - Blackdemonium
January 21, 2026
While this may not be an album I ever really go back to, I appreciated the time I had with it, and R.I.P. Tristessa.

The Holeum – Ensis
January 20, 2026
This was an outstanding album for me, and their genre/style can’t be pigeon holed. Part Doom, part Post Rock, part Progressive, and part Death, it’s the way that they mix these styles and the way they constantly shift between the two that is the best feature of the album. It forces me into a reflective state to ponder the many mysteries of the universe…and they are ones that we will never have answers for in our lifetime. Still, that exercise of deep thought isn’t a waste of time.

Flamecore - Flamecore
January 20, 2026
How could I have missed this little nugget of Greek melodeath?
review
Gorrch – Stillamentum
January 20, 2026
In many ways, it’s the purity of the album that makes it so compelling. I don’t usually like a tracklist where each song has a similar pace, but this one, goes so deep underground and so far into the stars, I don’t mind. A warning however…don’t listen to this album in the dark, because its fury and vengeance might close your eyes forever.

Lost in Existence – Atonement
January 20, 2026
It’s that contrast that keeps the music alive and energetic. I could do without the “bleghs,” but it was a solid listening experience for me. They have the talent and the vision…for next time, I would take a few more chances to help create that distance from their peers.

Olde Outlier – From Shallow Lives to Shallow Graves
January 20, 2026
“From Shallow Lies to Shallow Graves” is full of filth, very sharp edges, and all the metal you can eat.

Vitamin X - Ride The Apocalypse
January 19, 2026
As the songs on “Ride The Apocalypse” are rather short, you might assume that they are lacking a good start, a solid body and a proper ending. Well, think again. VITAMIN X doesn’t only know how to give you a good time, they also have mastered the writing of good songs that have something to say in the short time they last.

Stellvris – Shatter And Bloom
January 18, 2026
The sound of “Shatter And Bloom” is inspired and influenced by many different Metal subgenres as well as by Pop elements. It is an interesting mix of everything, often alternating melodic and crushing elements

Dymytry Paradox - Born From Chaos
January 18, 2026
What is immediate is the feeling that even though this might be a debut album for DYMYTRY PARADOX, these are definitely not newbies at playing this kind of music. This is intense, this is energetic, this is enticing.

Assignment - With The End Comes Silence
January 18, 2026
Musically this is sandwiched between some subtle Melodic Metal and pure unadulterated Heavy Metal. You will hear the band bouncing from one to another and back with great ease, giving the music on “With The End Comes Silence” a versatility that avoids you getting bored in that respect.
review
Miasme – Keep Them at a Distance
January 17, 2026
First, consider the duality of the album, and how effortlessly it explores both the dark side of existence, as well as the lighter side. Now, consider that this entire album was composed by one person. Perhaps the greatest compliment I can offer is how fluid it runs through these varied landscapes.
review
Phasma – Purgartory
January 16, 2026
Controlled chaos is what I call the album. It teeters on the very edge of the precipice of just falling over into the black hole and disappearing forever, but somehow the band manages to maintain control. Much of the music is weighted, aggressive, and intricate, and the vocals reign down continually like a storm of fists on your head. It’s a very disturbing death…the kind that ends completely bloody. How can you control something that is literally out of control? Ask PHASMA.

Black Pig Meat – Symbiotic Dream
January 15, 2026
Overall, this was just a fun album to listen to. It undulates with a free flowing rhythm and the band is never out of step. Indeed, they play like seasons veterans, and although it does explore the landscape well, it is never too far off the path. For me, it’s the kind of album you can just put on and let it ride.
review
Marianas Rest – The Bereaved
January 15, 2026
“Channeling deep melancholy” is about as good of a descriptor as I can think of to describe the album. The depth of that melancholy seems to travel to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, and stays there forever, lost and forgotten by the sands of time.

Redivider - Sounds Of Malice
January 12, 2026
As this is as Death Metal as music can get, the emphasis can now shift unto how and what REDIVIDER are bringing on “Sounds Of Malice”. Well, let me start by saying that the production of this album is without fault. It is hard, it is Heavy, but it also is transparent and very clear, making sure that you are able to hear what the band wants you to hear.

Adetar - Sinister Resurrection of the Morbid
January 12, 2026
Bloody Hell, this does take me back some years, or should I say eons? I remember ADETAR from the early nineties, as they hail from ENSCHEDE in my home country, and I not only saw them live, I also booked them at our youth centre at the time.

Drowned In Silver - Mothers
January 11, 2026
I have to say is that although this goes way beyond that which I’m used to listening, I found myself being utterly intrigued and, in this case, even mesmerised by what I hear on “Mothers”. Even though the songs are quite lengthy, DROWNED IN SILVER never gives you the feeling that they are too long.
review
Harmozel - Songs Of The Hungry Ghosts
January 11, 2026
HARMOZEL doesn’t have a record deal, so the thing to do is to self-release the debut album “Songs Of The Hungry Ghosts”. And what is very clear from the start is yes, this is Doom Metal. There is no way you can confuse this for anything else.
review
Hounds - Rise Of The Immortals
January 11, 2026
HOUNDS are an Italian Heavy/US Power Metal band born in 2016. Their music is mainly inspired by the great masters of Heavy Metal and 80s US Power Metal, including JUDAS PRIEST, SAVATAGE and VIRGIN STEELE. Well, if that doesn’t sound promising, I don’t know what does.
review
Old Night - Mediterranean Melancholy
January 11, 2026
The songs are clearly written and recorded by a band that has been together for quite some time. Everything on “Mediterranean Melancholy” is rather lengthy, but not once are you wondering when the song is going to end. There are no boring pieces, you will hear no fillers being used by OLD NIGHT, be it short or long.
review
Laughing Stock – Life in Seven Dreams
January 10, 2026
I mentioned that the album seems to be more about exploring the journey than arriving at any destination. Certain Progressive Rock music features subtle complexities that may challenge even seasoned listeners. I found the material here to be reflective of that. It might be one of the best features of the genre however…that sense of mystery and having to peel back the layers to find what’s underneath.
review
Darvaza – We Are Him
January 8, 2026
The album seemed to improve the longer I listened to it and with each forthcoming song. I also appreciated the religious themes within the music. Indeed, Black Metal was founded on religion…anti-religion of course. This was a solid effort from the duo.

Skull & Crossbones - Time
January 8, 2026
Opening tune “Echoes of Eternity” goes from 0 to 100 mph in just a few seconds. And let me tell you, if this song doesn’t do it for you, just ignore the rest of the album.

Bizarrekult – Alt Som Finnes
January 6, 2026
The album has a quality to it as if it was trying desperately to offer some hope, but with each turn, they sunk the dagger deeper into your heart. Either way you slice it, the level of emotional impact is high…almost devastating at times. You can feel each note in your stomach, like a rock that just keeps growing and there is no escape from the pain.
