Mjolne – Through Veils of Time
June 25, 2025
Although I was expecting a FWOBM sound, I was pleasantly surprised by the modern sound while still keeping one of their feet planted in 90’s Norwegian Black Metal. The album was excellently composed, and it’s beyond amazing to consider that all of this was done by one person. All Black Metal fans will enjoy this, and Mjolne will also win over some new ones, like me.

Phantomy - From the Wild
June 25, 2025
If you are looking for a good time and feel good record you can do a lot worse than trying out PHANTOMY, as “From the Wild” will have you dancing, twisting and turning in no time. So, you will have a smile on your face before you know it.

Front Row Warriors - Running Out Of Time
June 25, 2025
The slower songs on “Running Out Of Time” are all okay, but the faster ones are the real stars for me. That is also where singer Elkie Gee gets to show off her wares, where she is able to combine her singing with what almost sounds like shouting, but which is done in such a way that it demonstrates how powerful her voice really is.
review
EchoSoul - Time of the Dragon
June 25, 2025
You have the best of both worlds, you have the elements of American Power Metal with the technical wizardry of American Progressive Metal. This is easily of the best albums of the year, both from a musical and a lyrical standpoint.
review
Helms Deep - Chasing the Dragon
June 25, 2025
Heavy Metal done right (with copious amount of cheese!). For fans of Satan, Liege Lord, Metal Church, Jag Panzer and Savatage.
review
Autumn Lies Buried – Mob Mentality
June 24, 2025
I identify strongly with their message, and it’s nice to see that there are fellow people out there who want to burn down the establishment. The music was strong as well, but just some pinches of more variation would have made the album stronger.
review
Cromlech – Of Owls and Eels
June 23, 2025
A journey through shadow, memory, and dream, indeed. For me, it was more like a journey through shadows and nightmares, and the way Impurus brought them to light was noteworthy. It’s another example of Black Metal composed outside of the boxes of convention and tradition.
review
Mystic Circle – Kriegsgotter MMXXV
June 23, 2025
The album is a varied testament to the band’s longevity. They could have taken the easy way out, and just presented another tribute to the FWOBM, but these guys are crafty, and they have managed to stay out of the weeds than ensnare many of their peers.
review
Deathgoat – Dragged Into Realms Below
June 23, 2025
DEATHGOAT deliver excellence in traditional Death Metal. “Dragged Into Realms Below” is an album driven by the “Swedish” chainsaw guitars, by pace, insanity, and a blood-freezing melodic framework

Remaining Warmth – Before the Years
June 20, 2025
This was a fantastic journey seen through the eyes of Andrey Novozhilov. Your only real reminder as to the genre is the aggressive drumming and thick background. He lets the melody come out from behind the stage and take the center role, and it is very well crafted, and leaves a lasting impression.
review
Vaneno – Chaos, Hostility, Murder
June 18, 2025
This type of album is no-nonsense, no-frills music that just seeks to bludgeon the listener into submission. It met that mark. They aren’t trying to reinvent the wheel either, and although some of their riffs seem familiar, it’s the way they play them than stands out.
review
Wald Krypta - Disenchantment
June 18, 2025
A very good Old School Black Metal release that will make the hearts of fans of the genre beat stronger!

The Chris Rolling Squad - Damn You All to... Hell

June 18, 2025
A very good first Doom Death Metal visit from this French quintet.

Martoriator - Bloodpainted Visions of Perpetual Conflict
June 18, 2025
If one band can rewrite the rules of Black/Death Metal, this Italian duet is this band!

Imperishable - Swallowing the World
June 18, 2025
Wow, what a great Blackened Death Metal/Death Metal full-length from this Swedish quartet! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Primal – Iron Age
June 18, 2025
My personal take on all of this is that PRIMAL is a very good band that makes very pleasant Heavy Metal music. nothing more, nothing less. But hey, sometimes that is all one needs.

Signs Of Algorithm – Sunchaser
June 18, 2025
Once the music starts you can be sure that you are listening to a pure and unadulterated Metalcore album. SIGNS OF ALGORITHM goes for broke, and mixes aggression and Heavy Music in a very constructive and positive way.
review
Xenos A.D. - Reqviem For The Oppressor
June 18, 2025
If you look up XENOS A.D. on the Metal Archives it says that they are a Thrash Metal band. That is partly true, but then you will have to say that METALLICA also is a pure Thrash metal band. When that band first came to the scene the were dubbed a Speed Metal band, and I feel that is also what XENOS A.D. really is.

Aeon Winds – An Ode to the Mountains
June 18, 2025
It was so well crafted, with every detail in tow, and it flowed from start to finish like a river winding its way through a mountain path. It was firm and aggressive enough for all Black Metal fans to enjoy, but also had enough other elements to spice up the nine-course meal to your taste.
review
Moths – Septum
June 16, 2025
This was a strange album, but many Progressive albums are. The clean vocals sounded ritualistic at times, as if they came from a shamanka, while the harsh vocals provided an aggressive bite. There was also a steady line of psychedelica running through the songs. This is an intriguing band that I would love to hear more from.
review
Signum Regis - The Eyes of Power (Reissue)
June 16, 2025
A 15 year old album that doesn't seem far off from the very best of the Power Metal generation of the last decade yet with a neo-classical twist that still doesn't get old.
review
Skräcken – Echoes from the Void
June 15, 2025
“Echoes from the Void” bears repeating. A lot. Sofie-Lee’s vocals are spectacular, and the band is extremely tight.
review
Morbyda – Under the Spell
June 15, 2025
MORBYDA’s debut “Under the Spell” blends the raw energy and anger of betrayed youth with the evil machinations of an exterminating angel.
review
Phantom Spell – Heather & Hearth
June 13, 2025
This was an excellent album, and considering it was created by one person says a lot about it. For me, it has an old school Progressive ring to it, akin to KANSAS or KAIPA. The song are structure well, and they bring up a lot of emotion, as any good album would. There is also some mystery about the album, and that’s what brings me back wanting more.

Grave Speaker - Rays of the Emerald Sun
June 12, 2025
If this Doom Metal/Stoner Metal band can set its ideas in a better shape, they'll be good. But for now, it has a long way to go.
review
Clamfight - Clamfight
June 12, 2025
Maybe some lessons about the mix of Stoner Metal with Sludge Metal could be learned while hearing to this band.
review
Drouth – The Teeth of Time
June 12, 2025
This was an excellent album. The songs were meticulously crafted, thick, aggressive, and dark…everything you would want from a Black Metal album. But, this isn’t the usual FWOBM release. Their intense aggression is bested only by their intricate songwriting.
review
Eleventh Ray – Reviving Tehom
June 11, 2025
This amalgam of Black/Thrash/Death Metal was at least uncommon in some of its approach, but it mostly relied on riffs that you have heard before, and they didn’t do enough the really elevate their sound.
