Bird Of Prey

After a pretty good debut album, the US act ZOZOBRA returns with a brand new album through Hydra Head Records. Since the band's formation in 2006, mastermind Caleb Scofield seems to be a restless spirit and has released two full-length albums in two years!
Zozobra (Old Man Gloom) is the name of a giant marionette effigy which is built and burned every autumn during Fiestas de Santa Fe in Santa Fe.
So now you can see how both Scofield's bands took their names. This time with Aaron Harris (ISIS) behind both the console and the drum kit, ZOZOBRA deliver their second assault with the same heaviness they made us bang our heads in Harmonic Tremors. Of course Scofield could not avoid having some similarities with his main act OLD MAN GLOOM, as well as with bands like CAVE IN and MASTODON. Mixing some Sludge, Industrial and Metal together along with some Space Rock, the band unleashes its fury in 8 songs full of traveling tunes with mind torturing vocals and an almost melancholic bass.
I guess this album will be a nice little diamond in every CAVE IN/OLD MAN GLOOM collection. Hydra Head took care of its fans for one more time, so go get it and don't have any second thoughts.
