ZOMBIEFICATION is a death metal band based out of Querétaro, Querétaro, Mexico. The band was formed back in 2009 and is currently on the Doomentia Records label. This is their 4^th full-length record entitled "Below The Grief". The band has also produced an EP called "Reaper's Consecration" in 2012 and a split EP called "Eyeless Ghoulish Horror" in 2015. This brand new album contains 7 tracks with over 45 minutes of music.

The album starts off with "Blood Falls" with does not leave the listener waiting too long for extremely intense blast-beats that you would expect from the Norwegian masters of Black Metal. It transitions into a very old-school thrashy guitar riff. There is no room to breathe here whatsoever especially when the double bass kicks in, it is an overwhelming, surrounding sound, a great feeling at that. The vocals go from being harsh, a bit like JOHAN LIVA, and some screams, not necessarily the growl-type variety. This is a great start to the album and gets your blood pumping.

"Deliverance from the Astral Sea" has another black-metal like intro, except this time more in the guitar sound, very reminiscent to old school DISSECTION, obviously with a very different vocal style but the overall feel to the song is very 90s Sweden. This one will you have banging your head to the drums for sure, and the transitions into some great bass lines and rhythm guitars adds a lot of depth to the song. The best way to describe this track is that it follows the epic vibe we are used to in black metal songs about winter an crusades.

"Echoes of Light" follows a different trend, with some light distortion and doomier approach in the guitars and rolling drums. The rhythm part should appeal to the many fans of AMON AMARTH, easy to follow, straight to the point, no questions asked. The slower side of this one really appeals to me. The best comparison here would be the stoner metal side of HIGH ON FIRE

"From Death to Its Son" is one of the absolutely heaviest juggernauts you will hear on the album. It resonates with a passion from the first notes and again when these guys use lower-tone guitars with double bass, the sound just wraps itself around you as if you were listening to the album in a cavern. This is also one of the longest tracks on the album; it grips you and never lets go.

"Heavy Is the Crown" in its early moments brings me back to the good old days of PEACEVILLE, and bands like PARADISE LOST and MY DYING BRIDE. Echoes in the drums and bass with some nice guitar effects that would fit perfectly in any horror movie. The vocals are used in a more distant fashion here at times even if they show off the same aggression as the previous tracks.

"Hunger Undying" sounds like it was recorded back in the 90s when death metal was at its peak. The big difference here however is the use of choir effects in the vocals, something we did not hear previously on any other track. The ARCH ENEMY vibe of the late 90s is very strong here, especially in the dirty guitar sound.

Finally we have "Sky Burial", rain effects and distant vocals set the tone here for what is a great thrash/death piece of music, with some melodies intertwined. Another heart pumping track if I ever heard one.

Overall, every song here is good as they use both the intense side that shows off the drumming aspects and rapid-fire elements of death metal, but the doomier parts are also a huge part of every song and add another layer to a great album.
