You Know Who
You Know Who

When Punk Rock and Hardcore were born on the second half of the 70s, I believe that no one could believe that these styles would exist for more than 40 years, and that every single year, tons of new bands of both styles would appear. Yes, even now, both Punk Rock and Hardcore are still alive, and still as nasty as in the past. But of course some new influences were gathering to them for all these years. And the North American trio YOU KNOW WHO is a true heir of their legacy, as we can hear on "You Know Who".
All I can say about them is that these guys are truly into the style. And they sound as nasty and furious as the old school North American masters like BLACK FLAG, MINOR THREAT, DEAD KENNEDY'S and all those really wonderful bands from earlier U.S.A. Punk Rock/Hardcore school, but they keep some elements that reminds a lot the power and grasp from MOTORHEAD on its earlier days. And the trio's music is dirty, nasty and aggressive, but done in a very charming way. You hear it, you get caught, simply this way. Very good vocals, intense and catching guitar riffs (and even good solos, a strange feature for a band from these styles), and a powerful and simple rhythmic kitchen are the basis for their very good musical work.
The sound quality is a bit raw, because it's the style way to be. But nothing that turns their music into a non understandable chaotic sound mass. No, it's a bit raw as Hardcore used to be in its earlier years of live, but the musical instruments are in their due places, and there's no difficulties to understand what the band is playing.
As their best shots on "You Know Who", I dare to point to the aggressive and energetic trilogy "Napoleon Blownapart/Save Me Jeebus/Marshall Stacks and Alcohol" (full of great guitar riffs and a hooking rhythm), the ironic and powerful "Babaduhbah", and the abrasive duo "You Know What/Knuckle Duster".
Hear it and have a nice day!
