Mortal Fear Of Infinity

Doomsters beware for there is a storm on the horizon and they are known as WITCHSTONE. Have to say a pretty cool name but that's all, but what about the music? Oddity speaks for itself when listening to a maze full of repetitive slow drudging guitar chords that seem to end up nowhere. Dashing bits of retro 70's fuzz box along with BLACK SABBATH twists along with whiny singing it's hard to fathom how a band could put out a release. Maybe for shite and giggles but Mortal Fear Of Infinity is true to that title. For what the fear is, well the music pretty much explains itself. This mini album consists of four songs that torment the listener to say ouch all the while the senses are bleeding hell no we just didn't listen to that, but in reality we have... sort of thing.
Just think of dirty old hippies popping acid and checking out the psychedelic colors that appear before their eyes as they listen to WITCHSTONE while viewing a lava lamp. Well this stuff pretty much sums weirdness at it's best despite some moderate guitar playing here and there adding some melodic SCOOBY DOO (the cartoon) induced influenced keyboards. Reminds me of early DANZIG with it's slow pulsing drums with the crashing of the crash cymbals and weary spooky vocals that can be described as a soundtrack to a B rated low budget movie. Seriously!
Oh gosh, this gets even worse for the songs are distant and uninteresting take track "Chronoshift" which its dullness speaks volumes of discord. Vocalist Sean Edwards has an early Taime Downe's (FASTER PUSSYCAT) singing approach for it is raspy and wobbly. Sad to say each track flows the same forte and doesn't feed the senses to further investigate them musically. As far for the rest of band if they sped up the rhythm a notch they just might sound like a one musician project. If senseless music is your taste that doesn't really motivate your ears then WITCHSTONE just might be that!
