The names WISHING WELL and "Chasing Rainbows" are often associated with the sixties, particularly the hippies who wished to spread peace and love while an awful war was happening.  Most Rock fans know "Wishing Well" is the name of a song by Hard Rock legends FREE who first came to fame in the late sixties and the term chasing rainbows is free for anyone to interpret but it's not usually negative. All this aside, there is a band called WISHING WELL and they have released an album titled "Chasing Rainbows" that will tickle those nostalgic nerves as their sound takes you back to the sixties, one of the decades that pioneered Rock.

WISHING WELL hail from Finland and they are a Hard Rock band, which was surprising as this album seemed to contain some British influences from the history of Rock. This is in no way a bad thing; in fact it's an amazing thing. This album demonstrates some quality, laid back rock with a few surprises in the music that the listener doesn't quite expect. If this was to make sure the listener was still tuned in and appreciating the art of this record then it worked.

There are nine original songs on this record that all have a different sound and vibe about them, there is nothing better than variety of songs within an album and WISHING WELL did more than achieve that. From the Doom effects of the song "Sacrifice" to the soft ballad, including Spanish acoustic guitars, "I'll Never Let You Go", that reminds one of LED ZEPPELIN classic "Stairway To Heaven", there is a track for every taste here.

It ends on a beautiful note with "Fire In My Soul" that leaves the listener wanting much more.

So overall? Not a bad album at all, in fact it's a great thing to listen to when you are looking to chill and want a reminder of the sixties.
