WILSON is a "Full Blast Fuckery" band based out of Detroit, United States. This is their second full-length album, and contains twelve tracks. The title track, "Right to Rise," sets the tone for the album. It is dirty and raucous in nature, with edgy vocals that fall somewhere between singing and shouting. In the multi-faceted spectrum of Rock/Metal music, this is within the genre, reminding me at times of bands like THE OFFSPRING and other times at bands like ROB ZOMBIE. The common element to the music seems to be an abounding energy and a driving, gritty combination of vocals and instrumentation. There are also some strong moments of sing-along melody, like in the song "Guilty (You're Already Dead)." Another common element seems to be a focus on the band being fun and the music easy to listen to. There is enough punch to the tracks to appeal to heavy rockers and enough accessibility that the listener can connect with the lyrical message, while being able to just enjoy the sound. "Window's Down" is definitely a party anthem and sing-along to the pride of their native city. Sometimes the energy just pours out over everything else and makes you want to take up residence with them and spend a wild week on their tour bus or with the crew. This isn't the kind of music you over-think, however, which isn't to say that it is necessarily "simple," but rather just very straightforward. The steady clapping that occurs here and there contributes to the connected, as in the song "The Flood." Though there isn't much diversity from track to track, it sounds like the goal is to keep the sound consistent, though "I am the Fly" does have a bit of a darker sound and message. The closing track is notable, as well. It has that southern soul kind of flare and an upbeat, pounding rhythm. Overall, "Right to Rise" is just a wild, adult rated ride that you simply get caught up in and enjoy.<
