Wildime - Beams of Bones Walls album cover

WILDIME is a Southern Groove Metal band based out of Italy. Formed in 2009, they previously released an EP. This is the first full-length album, containing eleven tracks. The "Intro" to "Black Conspiracy" is a soft, acoustic melody that toggles between major and minor chords. When the main riff kicks in, it is mid-tempo heaviness with a bottom end seemingly lower than a deep well. Vocals are gritty and the groove is strong. You are immediately reminded of bands like BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and FIREBALL MINISTRY, and the prolific use of wah-wah adds to that feeling. "Face Your War" has another plodding, pounding riff and hard, heavy percussion where every strike of the snare seems to come out of the song and onto your head. The album has a tender side as well, with the acoustic power-ballad of "Let Me Turn in You." They build a nice amount of emotion in this track, especially in the chorus. When listening, I picture a lonely man in a smokey bar, nursing his last beer for the night.

By contrast, "Lost in Your Eyes" is another slower acoustic laden track, but the message is much more positive. "Part of It" hits you somewhere between the heavy tracks and the softer tracks, with a foot-tapping rhythm and roots in early 1970's Rock music. "Pull the Trigger" circles back around with a swifter gallop than previous tracks, featuring a riff in the chorus that is echoed by both guitar and bass. This song is pure raucous energy and I can visualize tandem head-banging it reverberates of the walls inside a biker club. "Stars and Stripes" is an anthem of sorts, celebrating the simpler things in life and finding ways to just enjoy the ride. "Sweet Baby Insane" goes as hard and deep as any song on the album, really chugging away at a tough rhythm with plenty of punch.

There is no doubt that this is dirty, gritty, groove oriented Southern style Metal, served on a platter as heavy as cast iron. Though their sound is very well honed particularly with the heavier tracks, the quieter/more introspective songs if you will provide a nice contrast and showed that groove oriented Metal can be emotional at the same time.
