WHOURKR is an experimental project from France between Igorrr and I Snor which started in 2005 and it is based on normal instruments, all edited in a digital way. They just made a record deal with Suprachaotic Records in order to re-release their first album plus a new more track included.
If we had to describe Concrete's music we would say that it is...not a music. I really tried hard to stand listening on this album and find something, anything serious in it, but the only result was a strong headache. They call their music: Electronic Death Metal. I call it: the twisted version of the Smurfs on drugs, trying to make music by mixing guitars with pacman's soundtrack . Just think of a few sounds of a chainsaw with the fastest blast beats played on your kettle and some whatever electronic samples. They do have death metal vocals but they don't have lyrics. What does this mean? WHOURKR think that words have a weight that they cannot lift so they just make some noises and name them emotional language. This sound like a great idea but if we judge by the whole impressions this cd creates, I would call this more like a lack of inspiration. It is even worse than those vegan grind bands who have pit bulls as singers to show their protest against animal abuse.
The whole album patterns this strange brutal, harsh, techno but entertaining atmosphere, with the exception of the fourth track which is really a surprise as it is totally into black metal, by starting with a kind of declamation and continuing on a 'MY DYING BRIDE' motif. But that's just a small break until the album returns for once more to this schizophrenic figure that prevails. I would really love to go to one of those guys' rehearsal just to find out what exactly are they thinking when they compose these masterpieces!
Reasons to buy this album? Firstly if you hate your neighbor/roommate. Secondly if you want to get high in the cheapest way and finally no matter how hard you try I bet there is no way you will find something similar in the whole planet (I hope there were not pretty good reasons to convince you!).
