Extinguish the Light

Second release for Texans WHORE OF BETHLEHEM, born in 2009 and from the start moving classic brutal death sound toward black metal influences. After some changes in the lineup, an EP "The Crowning Moment" and a first full-length "Upon Judas Throne" in 2012, vocalist Ryan Sylvie and his band present their shattering "Extinguish the Light" out for Black Market Metal.
Opening track "Ritual Purification" starts off this 30 minute crushing release of their blackened death metal, influenced by DEICIDE and BELPHEGOR. There's no room for boredom as that's not a 30 min run made of blast beats and fast and slashing riffs: our Texans can change rhythm and tempo, with breakdown giving more thickness and weight to their sound. Second song "Invocation" may be the best in this tracklist. As expected, songwriting does not shine in innovation, with sometimes too evident DEICIDE blood in it, but it's such a passionate release that's impossible not to appreciate all this raw violence, emerging growling in "Overtaken by Evil" and "Rebirth in Fire."
Attitude is both an abused or completely forgotten word but it's the pivotal force of WHORE OF BETHLEHEM, perfect with this "Extinguish the Light" if you're looking for something without frills, unleashing force and violence since the first spin of this album.
