WHEN BLOOD FALLS DOWN are a Technical Deathcore band from Mexico who got their start sometime around 2010. This 2012 album "Ven(3)ah" is  fast and vicious, cutting through the notes like a razor blade but with scalpel-like precision. Deathcore can often blend together into a brutal cacophony of noise, but these guys nail it and you can really pick it all apart if you want to, and still find some substance.

"The Rotten" makes use of different vocal intensities, using low grunts and high screeches to make a demonic duet that is hard to hate. The drums flow through the vocals without taking away from them, starting and stopping to punctuate the lyrics. The titular song "Ven[3]ah" maintains the grim but high-energy tone, and doubles down on the formula that already worked in the first track.

Barrelling forward comes "Imitator", a harsher, more visceral song. It bowls you over like demons riding to war, crashing against your ears, getting the blood pumping like a good Deathcore song should. Following that, "The Plague Inside" digs deep inside you like the disease it's named after and sticks with you; with staccato vocals and instrumentals that blend into one another - one starting as another ends - it makes for a unique sound that I found really interesting.

The finale entitled "Attera Reproba Deus" starts off with clanging of church bells; setting it apart from the other songs that leap right into the action. This track takes its time to build tension and set a tone. "Attera Reproba Deus" sent chills up my spine and then beat me down with a brutal track that made me want more for the first time during my listen.

All in all, "Ven(3)ah" is a short and sweet Deathcore album that does one sole thing, but does it pretty well. I would have loved to see more variety and technical work here, but for a group of guys who hadn't been together for very long, it's good and worth a listen if you are into the genre.
