Wax Mekanix/Troll Teeth - Blunt album cover

Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: WAX MEKANIX / TROLL TEETH; signed via Electric Talon Records, hailing from the United States of America - performing Alternative/Indie Rock, on their Split EP entitled "Blunt" (released October 22nd, 2021). Since formation in 2021; this collaboration has only this Split EP in their discovery so far entitled: "Blunt". 5 tracks ranging at around. 15:52... Collectively merging their formulas into one, WAX MEKANIX / TROLL TEETH arrange an intricately designed convention on some heavy-hitting Alternative/Indie Rock amalgamations.

Opening up with this ritualistic drum bang Gene 'Machine' Freeman rumbles the speakers with this reverberating march that sounds like an easy-listening, indie chant within "Head". WAX MEKANIX starts this record off with this jamboree of symbolism, mellow & boisterously bouncy, stoner surged snares. Nothing short of extremity here, but an organic remedy of unique melody. M11SON revels with this rite of passage towards enlightenment and enchantment, alongside Brandon Yeagley & Lectriq who distills an intriguing slab of percussion & towering furore. It's a mantra of hope and borderline voodoo, where Wax Mekanix himself injects an infectiously euphonic fabrication on psychedelic vocals and an enriching element on catchy acoustic guitar frets. While this massive use of harmonica flairs with mellifluous precision, where archaic drums and percussion pummels with punchy thumpiness within the cryptic chimes of "Manchester Strawberry Blonde" & "Freak Boutique"...

I'll be honest, expecting something a little more extreme - "Blunt" is a doomy/stoner dream in the next section with TROLL TEETH. "The Pigs Are on Parade Today" brings forth that momentum with full force impact, it's a drony but experimental hybrid in grindy noise which piledrives with stompy yet steely & sulfurous rifts. Moe Eccles on the audible bass/melancholic vocals, belts a crunchy but choppy surge of meaty flickers and rampantly rompy yet rambunctiously trailblazing rips that revel with riveting stability. The overall concluding banger "Barbs on a Wire" distributes an equal amount of stampy vigor while relentless thunder scours the stage with bombastic but smokey yet virulent haze, as a mystifying & contorted conundrum of lacerating gallops from Kyle Applebaum blasting his way with smacking jolts, among a sonically seamless chugger from Peter Trafalski who strikes with primitively raw potency which vibrantly shreds with nimble swiftness while rollicking with swerve stridency to boot.

I think the bottom line here is, "Blunt" is an immersive shroud of musical variety that serves with this prestigious collaboration but feels a little bizarre in the mixed contrast... as both WAX MEKANIX & TROLL TEETH are two totally different bands on the spectrum of the alt/indie scene. However, should you fancy a listen of versatile yet volatile expertise, a salubrious tenor tremors with weighty jumpiness & epic solidity with this one. Something I personally wouldn't go back to, yet should you crave a dope-fueled jam, this is a discovery for you.
