Ok, so... WASTES is a French band that describes themselves as "Extreme Funeral Doom Metal" that formed in 2015, and according to their bio, they are "Inspired by filth, scum and everything dirty-related". WASTES aims to bring the darkest and most painful music its creator could produce". I can say with total conviction, they have succeeded in that goal, and then some.

I'm going to be honest when I say that the epically long, dark and atmospheric absorption of what Doom Metal bands create has never really been something that I was able to full get into. However, there are certain tracks that I have heard over the years that really harnessed the epic darkness into something to captivate the listener; and that was completely absent in this, err... 'Album' that is titled "Into The Void of Human Vacuity"

I can't really tell you much about this band or this release, as WASTES don't really give away very much at all, everything is darkened to the point of indistinguishable, right down to their band photos. This melancholy sense of bleak mystery they exude, may have tweaked some intrigue about them if they had really good material to draw in the listener; but they don't.

With unimaginative song titles that start from "Part 1" to "Part 2", "Part 3" and so on; WASTES really didn't have any discernible creativity. Nearly every single track was at an absolute crawling pace and just blended into the next one; these consisted of eerie chord progressions that were tragically slow, as were the rest of the instruments; at one point I thought I was going to travel back in time. The relatively monotone vocals had equally uninteresting melodies that just seemed to keep on going without any end in sight, this isn't helped by the running time of the tracks that average around 7 minutes.

It's not until half way through the song, "Part 6", there was finally an increase in pace that was akin to Norse Black Metal, but that was very short lived and the anchors are thrown onto the sound yet again. I tried really hard to find something positive to say about "Into The Void of Human Vacuity", but I just can't; in fact I was relieved when it finished. They weren't kidding when they said they wanted their music to be "painful".<
