Wasteland Clan - The End of Time album cover

From their EPK, "The End of Time has come...suited in the garments of the last days, it is finally time for the demoness Lilith Fox, Mashl J. (a.k.a. the Messiah), and his three prophets Rayzon, Zach Volcanic and Smoky 616 to heed their destiny, to carry out salvation to the world and to raise their numbers. All that is left after the apocalypse is combined in this album: Hate and fear but also hope, brutal as well as earthshaking drums and enchanting choirs, stories of death as well as guidance for the lost and unbelieving. The true ten commandments will take the form of song - listen to them carefully, and receive the Messiah's message, Lilith's visions, and the prophet's myths. Join the Clan. Follow the Messiah" The album has ten songs.

The title track is the first. The opening electronic tones combined with piano are very nice. But then an elementary riff comes in with female vocals and the vibe is somewhat ruined. The vocals do not connect well with the instruments. "Dark Matter" is another song that begins with promising clean tones and a downtrodden feeling, that is wiped out with bad harsh vocals. I am not entirely sure what I am listening to, but it's fairly bland. "Who I Am" begins with some meaty bass notes but again, the sound is missing something. Personality...that is what is missing here.

"Revenge" is another dark offering again with simple riffs and bad harsh vocals. It's a combination of the timing and their sonority...both are off. They try, they really do, but it falls short of the mark. "Rising Storm" isn't much better. The opening clean tones combined with cello notes is actually quite charming. But the overly lamenting tones again ruin the vibe. "Gods of War" is a faster and more aggressive song, and perhaps the band should focus more on these rockers. The harsh vocals are a little better done here also, but there is a disconnect with the cleans, and the chorus leaves a little to be desired. "Messiah" had another poor melody line. The band has got to get off these sounds. "Emptiness" closes the album. There is at least a better connection with the music here, but again it sounds stale to me.

The clean female vocalist has a really smooth and sultry voice, and the band tries with harmonies in the choruses, but the harsh vocals and overly simple riffs really put a damper on the album. She can't carry the band, and it's a shame.
